If you are considering integrating an Uptale video in your Teach on Mars app, here are a few key things to know and to do.
Better integration
Please, note that in this article we are going to cover the integration of an Uptale video using a SCORM package. But this integration is not the best way to experience the Uptale videos, as you cannot in this case use a VR headset.
If you wish to use VR headsets, please contact the Uptale team for more information.
SCORM package integration
This integration will display the experience on your mobile phone and you can navigate by moving your phone screen around. You can also use a cardboard headset with this integration.
Content creation in Uptale
While creating you content in the Uptale interface, you need to pay attention to a few things to make sure your video will be compatible with the Teach on Mars application.
Content weight
SCORM packages need to be uploaded to the Mission Center in a training course using web activities and there is a limit to the weight a training course can support. This maximum weight is 200Mo, so you need to make sure that your video doesn't exceed this limit.
Videos can quickly get heavy so, try to find the right video quality so that the video can fit below the limit and still be easily viewed on mobile phones.
Navigation outside the content
Another requirement of SCORM packages in Teach on Mars is that the content must provide a way to close itself. In the Uptale interface, you need to add an interaction at the end of the video experience. And configure this interaction to be a "door" typed tag with the following URL:
command:ToM_Exit
Content export to SCORM package
To export your video experience as a SCORM package, use the Downloads menu and choose SCORM 2004.
Then you can upload the package as shown here.
