How to create a Recommendation Quiz?

 The Recommendation Quiz is an activity designed to enable you to offer your learners a personalized learning path, based on their answers to a questionnaire-style quiz which you devise on themes of your choice.  

Before learning how to create it, we advise you to read the article "What is the Recommendation Quiz?" to understand more about its uses and its structure.

1. HOW TO CREATE YOUR RECOMMENDATION QUIZ?

First, fill in the form to create your Recommendation Quiz:

• Name: This is the name that will be displayed on the app for your learners. You can change it later.
• Reference code: This is the unique reference code for your quiz, the one that will allow you to quickly locate it in your Mission Center. The reference may only include alphanumerical characters, dashes and underscores, with no spaces. You will not be able to modify it subsequently. We recommend that you add the author's name and the date it was created (e.g. name-of-quiz-marielle-january-2020).
• Choose the main category: Your quiz must be associated with at least one existing category in order for it to appear in the app! You can associate it with a second category later.
• Main language: Choose the language in which you want to create your Recommendation Quiz. The main language is the one that will be proposed to the learner if the language of his app is not available in the translation options for your quiz.  
• Learner access management: Choose this option if you want to give access to all your learners without having to create access rules afterwards (this option can be modified).

and finish by clicking on Create or Cancel to unsave your changes.

Your Recommendation Quiz is now created in the Mission Center.

2. HOW TO ADMINISTRATE YOUR RECOMMENDATION QUIZ?

Now that you've created your Recommendation Quiz, the first step is to administer it. You can:

• Create access rules / enroll your learners/ enroll to test your quiz
• Add a thumbnail image
• Manage your training course details (in particular the categories)

3. HOW TO EDIT YOUR RECOMMENDATION QUIZ?

Note: The Recommendation Quiz is currently only available with the Web Authoring Tool.

This takes you to your authoring environment. Get started by adding a description and associating keywords, which will make your training course easier to find on the app! Remember to save the information by clicking Save. 

Now click the Authoring button to actually start the job of building your Recommendation Quiz. 

3.1. FIRST STEP: HOW TO CREATE THE THEMES OF YOUR RECOMMENDATION QUIZ?

A theme may correspond to a profile, a skill or a field of knowledge. 

For each theme you create, you must associate a threshold of success below and/or above which the learner will be recommended a specific set of courses of your choice.

Click New theme.

Theme: specify the title of the theme, limited to 150 characters.

Recommended threshold: indicate a threshold above which high scorers will be recommended to take certain courses and/or below which lower scorers will be recommended to take a different set of courses. 

Success: add a text that will appear (together with the associated recommended courses) if the learner has attained the success threshold you have indicated. 

Training courses recommended in case of success: start typing the title or reference of the training course that you want to recommend to high scorers until the desired title or reference appears in full. Once you've selected the first one, you can search for another course. You can add as many courses as you like.

WARNING: ONLY TRAINING COURSES ACCESSIBLE TO THE USER WILL BE RECOMMENDED

Failure: add a text that will appear (together with the associated recommended courses) if the learner has scored below the success threshold you have specified. 

Training courses recommended in case of failure: start typing the title or reference of the training course that you want to recommend to lower scorers until the desired title or reference appears in full. Once you've selected the first one, you can search for another course. You can add as many courses as you like. 

WARNING: ONLY TRAINING COURSES ACCESSIBLE TO THE USER WILL BE RECOMMENDED

Note: You can add as many themes as you wish, according to your objectives, the coverage of your catalogue, etc. 

3. 2. SECOND STEP: WRITING QUESTIONS FOR YOUR RECOMMENDATION QUIZ. POINTS TO BEAR IN MIND 

Each question is associated with one of the themes created. There is a limit of 50 character per question.

Each question must feature at least two and a maximum of three answer options. An answer option may be the right answer ("Perfect answer"), a satisfactory answer ("Acceptable answer") or the wrong answer ("Wrong answer"). Depending on which option the learner chooses, he will be awarded a number of points: 

• Perfect answer: scores 100 points
• Acceptable answer: scores 50 points
• Wrong answer: scores 0 points

These points are then converted into a percentage to determine whether or not he has reached the success threshold. 

We recommend that you create a minimum of 3 questions for each theme to ensure you get the most meaningful and accurate results possible. 

"Conclusion" card:

You need to write a message of conclusion for your Recommendation Quiz. This will be visible on the app before the training course recommendations appear.

3.3. THIRD STEP (OPTIONAL): GLOBAL EVALUATION

The global evaluation is optional. This is a way of giving your learners insight into their overall level of knowledge on all the themes covered. The average score across all themes (converted to a percentage) determines the learner's position on a scale that you configure.

You can include up to 5 levels in your global evaluation. 

3.4. PARAMETERS

In the Recommendation Quiz parameters, you can allow the learner to take the Recommendation Quiz multiple times. If the "Allow multiple launches" box is not checked, the learner will not be able to run the Quiz again once he has completed it. He will, however, be able to return to the Quiz to access results with the list of recommended courses.
