It is possible to integrate a web content into a training course in your Teach on Mars app.
Note: what follows is related to the Web content activity within a classic training course and not to a Web content-type training course.
This allows you to reuse training content that you already have (for example, from a previous LMS, provided this content is mobile-friendly), but also to create new kinds of activities that are not yet proposed by Teach on Mars (eg Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality ...).
To learn how to create a web content, you can use the following documentation: Documentation Web Activity / SCORM (last update on February 27th 2020).
This document relates the golden rules to follow to use a Web content.
Here is an example of content created with Articulate Rise
Time, scores and points are escalated if the activity itself has been well developed to return time, progression and score to its output or if the activity is SCORM compatible.
You can the use these contents to organize competitions as points will be appear in the ranking.
1. Using the Webauthoring tool
Click on New activity to create an activity and select Web content in the activity type. Name your activity and click on Save.
In the new screen, in Content tab, you can drag / drop your .zip file archive. The file name of the archive must not contain any spaces or special character, or the Mission Center will reject it.
In the Parameters tab, you can:
- set whether or not the activity is visible in Demo mode
- set whether scores are sent to appear in the results reports
- set whether the activity awards the learner points on first completion, first success or depending on the score of the learner - by choosing the desired option from the drop-down list.
- set the option to display the navigation bar for the learner in the your Web content (as from January 2023)
Pass your training course in Test version to see the new activity in your mobile device
2. Using Excel® templates
Create a new Web Activity:
Click on New activity to create an activity and select Web content in the activity type. Name your activity and click on Save.
Then, for the new activity, click on to edit it. In the Activity edition, you can drag / drop your .zip file archive or click on the Drag archive file here. You can also define if the activity is visible or not in the Demo mode. Click on Save to finish.
You CANNOT define if the scores are sent so that they can appear in the results reports.
Once your archive is loaded, you can download it again at any time using theicon.
Manage the multilingual mode:
In the 'Parameters' section, click on the 'Allow importing once file per language'. Back in the 'Content' section, select your second language (different than the default language). You can choose between :
- Using the same .zip file than the main language's one for this other language. Click on the 'Use the main language Zip file for this language'.
- Using a different .zip file than the main language's one for this other language. Click on the 'Use a new Zip file for this language'. You can drop the new .zip file.
Note: The size of the entire formation must not exceed 250MB for the publication to work, and this includes the sum of all the zip archives.
How to modify a Web activity?
To modify a web activity, simply load a new .zip archive which will overwrite the old version.
Notes:
- Please note that Flash is not supported in web activities.
- When inserting the .zip file in a Web Content type activity, the name of the file in the Mission Center becomes the concatenation of the reference code of the activity and the (numerical) id of the activity. Therefore, when an existing archive is replaced, there does not appear to be any change but the content is replaced.
