The Web authoring tool is an interface to create and edit the content of training courses directly in the Mission Center.
How to create contents of training courses with the Web authoring tool?
In the "Edit" section of a training course, create a new activity.
The Web authoring interface then appears:
Select the activity of your choice and indicate the title in the field appearing at the bottom of the screen. You reach then the creation interface where you will see three tabs that will allow you to customize your activity:
- Content edition
- Setting parameters
- Graphic design customization
Your modifications are automatically saved.
Can we still use the Excel® templates?
Yes ! Good news for the nostalgic: it is always possible to use Excel® templates. You can create your content on Excel®, offline, upload them, then edit your work on the Web authoring tool.
For this, select "Template Upload" on the screen of activity type selection when you create an activity.
If your activité is already created in the Web authoring tool, you can still use the Excel® templates thanks to the button situated in the Édition de contenu (Content) tab.
Le contenu de votre fichier Excel® ("Cards" tab) will overwrite all the content of the activity present in the Web authoring tool, in the selected language only. The media possibly indicated in the Excel® template will be taken into account.
If the language selected in the Web authoring tool is the main language, the Config tab of the Excel® template will also be taken into account (eg activity time, score to be obtained, etc.).
However, if the selected language is a translation, only the contents of the Excel® template will be imported. In this case, the "Parameters" and "Graphic Design" tabs do not appear in the Web authoring tool:
Can we export the Excel® template of an activity created with the Web authoring tool?
No, it is not possible to export to Excel® format an activity created or modified with the Web authoring tool.
However, if you only use Excel® templates and do not make any changes in the Web authoring tool, you can download the latest version of the Excel® templates you previously uploaded. To do this, click on the templates upload icon:
Then in the popup window that appears, click on the link to download the latest uploaded Excel® template:
Note that the downloaded Excel® template will correspond to the last one that has been uploaded. It will not include any changes directly made in the Web authoring tool.
What happens to existing training courses in Excel® format?
All training courses are automatically converted to the Web authoring tool. Thus, if you create a new version of an existing training course (previously done usingExcel® templates), you will be automatically redirected to the Web authoring tool when you will edit or add an activity.
So, you should not see the following screen anymore:
How to translate content with the Web authoring tool?
The translation is directly done in the Web authoring tool, from the language selector at the top right of the editing window.
Click on the language or the down arrow to display the other languages available in this training course.
You can import an Excel® template for each available languages in your training course.
You can also manage translations directly in the Web authoring tool. If you assign the translation work to third parties to whom you do not want to authorize the publication of content on your app, you can create a Manager account in the Mission Center without giving them the role "Can publish content". A Manager who does not have this role can not publish a training course. He can however work on a training course in Edit mode, and pass it in Test mode.
Which activities are available in the Web authoring tool?
All Teach on Mars activities are available in the Web authoring tool, except the Survey activity that will be added later.
The 4 Mobile course activities (Mobile Course, Flash Course, Learning Quiz, Mixed Course) were grouped in one activity called Mobile Course. (Sometimes simplicity is good.)
Why is the Web authoring tool not enabled on my Mission Center?
The Web authoring tool is progressively deployed to our customers. It is available on the Teach on March Mission Center since February 22 and will be installed at all our customers by May 20, 2019.
