Video insertion in a training activity is managed the same way as for any other media (image, audio, PDF), read article for more details "How to use media in training course activities?".
Note: A video file can not exceed 80 Mb.
Unlike other media, when you insert a video into an activity, you can also add:
- subtitles files
- a video thumbnail (image used when the video is not playing). The recommended width is 768 px / height is free
To upload a video, you need to drag and drop your video file in the Media window:
ADD A THUMBNAIL FOR THE VIDEO
By default, the thumbnail displayed is the first image of the video. However, you may want to use your own thumbnail by uploading the image in your Mission Center.
When you upload your video file, you will also have to upload a file myvideoname-thumbnail.jpg.
For example, if your video is called myvideo1.mp4, you need to upload myvideo1-thumbnail.jpg. This image will then be used as thumbnail.
This image must be a .jpg format, indeed, .png format is not recognized for this feature.
Note: This subtitle file must have the same file name as the video file and will be in .SRT format (UTF-8 encoding).
READING VIDEOS ON APPLICATIONS
When downloading a training course, the learner can choose the offline mode. If the training course contains one or more videos, in the offline mode, the video content will be downloaded to the device. If not, the videos are not downloaded and the learner will need an internet connexion whenever he wants to watch a video. This will be done in streaming.
By default, offline mode is disabled to limit the amount of storage the app uses on the learners' mobile.
Note: If a video has been downloaded on the learner's mobile device, it can be deleted at any time in order to increase its memory space.
